| Abstract
Objective: To investigate the efficacy of Fu’s subcutaneous needling combined with heavy slow resistance training (HSR) in the treatment of athletes with patellar tendinopathy.
Method:Forty-two athletes with patellar tendinopathy were recruited and divided into a combination group and a control group according to random number table, with 21 subjects in each group. The control group received HSR training and intervention for 12 weeks, whereas the combination group received Fu’s subcutaneous needling intervention based on the control group. Before and after the intervention, the Visual Analog Pain Scale (VAS), the Victoria Institute of Exercise Patellar Tendinopathy Assessment Scale (VISA-P), the Modified thomas test (MTT), and Horizontal jump were used to evaluate the efficacy, and Musculoskeletal ultrasound image was used to evaluate the effects of the intervention method on the thickness of the patellar tendon and blood flow.
Result: Compared with baseline, the VAS score, VISA-P score, MTT test, and Horizontal jump of the athletes in both groups were significantly improved (P<0.05), the thickness of the patellar tendon was significantly reduced (P<0.05), and the blood flow in the patellar tendon was significantly reduced. After 12 weeks of intervention, the combined group was better than the control group in terms of VAS score, VISA-P score, MTT test, Horizontal jump (P<0.05). No adverse reactions occurred during the intervention process in both groups.
Conclusion: Compared with HSR training alone, the combination of Fu’s subcutaneous needling combined and HSR training may improve pain symptoms and athletic performance in athletes with patellar tendinopathy. |
